Lawrence Weiner (1942–2021) died last December.

This is a tribute to a friend, by his friends. And there are many. Indeed, there was no other artist of his generation who showed such generosity and friendliness towards so many people he met and conversed with in many languages.

Communication in language determined not only the form of

his work, but also how he led his life.

A complete collection of Lawrence Weiner’s work in his central medium, the artist’s book, up to the year 1980 is on display. To the best of our knowledge this hasn’t been achieved before. In addition, we present one of his most

important statement pieces, as well as his first video

recorded by Gerry Schum in 1970.

The short loop evokes the great presence of a great man.
